3.              Leadership and Administration

Administration (Open Learning for Science and the Department of Respiratory Therapy)

  • Along with the Dean and two other Associate Deans, administer nine departments with 150+ faculty and staff.
  • Partner with People & Culture on recruitment, onboarding, and professional development; conduct annual performance reviews.
  • Maintain robust decision-making through Program and Faculty Councils; ensure policy compliance.
  • Keep Faculty operations on budget; prepare targeted government-funding proposals and incremental budget asks.
  • Work closely with Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, Accessibility Services, Finance, People & Culture, Research Office, Integrated Planning & Effectiveness, Registrar, and Mission Fulfilment and Quality Assurance on planning, audits, costing, and transfer-credit updates.
  • Plan and manage science laboratories, core facilities, and high-performance computing resources.
  • Design annual training plans for faculty and staff (AI in Education, research compliance).
  • Organize program reviews, course reviews and campus-open learning curricular alignment. Bridge on-campus and Open Learning offerings; expand hybrid and online options. 
  • Approve research processes, ethics, and graduate-student training in collaboration with the VP Research Office.

Leadership

  • Liaise with Open Learning on oversight, curriculum alignment, inclusive pedagogy, authentic assessment, and flexible delivery.
  • Launch projects in Generative-AI literacy, teaching excellence, assessment revitalization, agile content development, and automation of academic support for students.
  • Implement strategies to weave Indigenous worldviews into curricula, starting with Research Methods courses and Land-based alternative assessments.  
  • Review annual and departmental budgets; prepare integrated resource plans.
  • Embed Work-Integrated Learning experiences into targeted programs and strengthen industry partnerships.
  • Develop new interdisciplinary credentials (e.g., Bachelor of Health Science) and micro-credential pathways that ladder into degrees.  
  • Foster high service standards and a commitment to student success across all units.
  • Contribute actively to Faculty and university committees (e.g., Inland Health).
  • Advocate for partnerships with international institutions, Indigenous communities, non-profits (e.g., Discovery Education) and industry.
  • Promote collaborative, interdisciplinary research and mentor emerging scholars.
  • Champion equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization in course design, staffing, and communications.
